Federal Apostille

Federal apostille services for qualifying documents issued by U.S. federal agencies, processed through the U.S. Department of State — not a state Secretary of State. CAP Notary facilitates the entire process from submission to return, including FBI background checks, IRS-certified documents, federal agency records, and documents notarized by a U.S. federal notary.

Standard: Standard U.S. Department of State processing. Federal turnaround is set by the issuing authority and is not the same as California timeframes.

Rush: Rush handling option when available for time-sensitive matters.

No same-day: Same-day federal apostille service is not available.

  • FBI background checks and identity history summaries
  • IRS-certified tax documents
  • Federal agency records and certifications

Embassy Legalization & Authentication

Embassy legalization is typically required for documents intended for use in non-Hague Convention countries. Requirements vary by destination country and document type.

Authentication and embassy or consular legalization for documents destined for countries that are not party to the Hague Apostille Convention or where additional certification is required. CAP Notary facilitates the entire legalization process, including applicable state or federal authentication, embassy or consular legalization, and verification of destination-specific requirements.

Standard & Rush: Standard and Rush handling when available; timelines vary by destination country and embassy or consular authority.

Variable timelines: Turnaround depends on the destination country and the relevant embassy or consulate.

No same-day: Same-day authentication is not available for embassy legalization.

  • Documents for non-Hague Convention countries
  • State and federal authentication services
  • Embassy and consular legalization
  • Destination-specific requirements review
  • Personal, academic, and business documents
  • Secure handling throughout the multi-step process

Out-of-State Apostille

Apostille and authentication for documents originating outside California. CAP Notary facilitates out-of-state apostille handling with Standard and Rush options. Timelines are state-specific and set by the issuing state — California turnaround times do not apply.

Mobile Apostille Services

Mobile notarization and document handling for clients who cannot visit our El Segundo office. CAP Notary travels to your location for notarization and then facilitates the apostille process on your behalf.

Documents We Apostille

Common personal, academic, and business documents we handle for apostille, including birth and marriage certificates, diplomas and transcripts, powers of attorney, affidavits, and corporate records — subject to document eligibility.

ID & Passport Authentication

Document authentication offerings for qualifying identification documents. Not every passport or ID is apostillable; eligibility depends on the issuing authority and destination requirements. CAP Notary reviews your documents and confirms what authentication is possible.

Certified Translation

Certified translation available alongside your apostille. Translations are prepared for submission to government agencies, courts, and academic institutions, with attention to accuracy and confidentiality across multiple languages.

Processing times: Timeframes are estimates and subject to document eligibility, authority cutoffs, and destination requirements.
